Guide
WiFi
High speed wireless internet. Router is by the TV and additional station is on windowsill in the kitchen. Check your e-mail for the ID and Password.
Heat/AC
The thermostat is on the stonewall in the kitchen, to the right of the hallway that leads to the living room.
Lighting
This is an old house, not all switches work. Just try things out! Some of the lamps in the living room are also a bit of a challenge to turn on. I assure you, all bulbs and lamps are working, it just may take a few gentle turns of the switch.
Lanterns and Flashlights
Feel free to use the lanterns and flashlights! There are additional batteries in the dry sink cabinet in the kitchen, left-hand door, in a plastic bin.
Pool stuff
There is sunscreen, goggles, pool dive toys, etc in the dry sink cabinet in the kitchen, left-hand door. There are also many floats and tubes in and next to the pool house. Pool towels are in the outhouse, which is serviceable, by the way.
Food
There are basic condiments in the fridge, as well as teas, coffee, oil, vinegar, spices, etc., in the cabinets.
If you can reach it, you can use it!
Cooking outdoors
There is a small charcoal grill on the porch, lighter fluid, but you’ll need to buy your own charcoal. I also have a set-up for cooking at the fire pit by the pool. Lay the re-bar stakes over the fire pit and put the metal oven rack over the stakes and voilà! There is plenty of small sticks (kindling material) in a pile to the left of the pool house. You can find tools to cut them in the green chest on the porch. Firewood is on the porch.
Laundry
The washer and dryer are in the cellar. Please empty the lint from the dryer after each use.
There is a supply of detergent, bleach, stain remover and dryer sheets on the table in the cellar.
Wood-burning Stove
There is a Jotul wood-burning stove in the stone fireplace in the living room. Firewood and kindling is on the porch. “Fatwood” and newspaper are beside the fireplace. Please watch my video tutorial to learn how to operate the stove.

Cleaning
There’s a vacuum in the closet in the closet in the upstairs hall by the bathroom. A broom and mop are in the corner of the kitchen. Please use the “Ceramibrite” cleaner with the yellow scouring pads to clean the rang top, located under the sink. Don’t use water with the Ceramibrite, just a dime of fluid and scrub with the scouring pad until the range is clear. All cleaning products can be found in the cabinets under the kitchen and bathroom sinks.
Games
Board games are kept in the bottom two drawers of the secretary desk in the living room. There is an old-fashioned game of “Skittles” near the computer bookshelves, on the second floor landing of the house. This game was hand-crafted by my father!
Badminton rackets and birdies are on the porch. A croquet set is under the garage over-hang.
Trash and Recycling
Trash and recycling collection is early Tuesday morning. The trash and recycling cans are kept in the open bay of the barn at the end of the driveway. Pull the cans out to the end of the driveway Monday evening.
What are the boundaries of our land?
Our land includes the field you can see from the driveway (corner of Cafferty and Ropwalk), as well as the huge side field, which you can access by walking straight from the driveway, to the right of the garage, past the old overgrown garden and split rail fence, through the hedgerow. The land is 13.5 acres in total. The “mowed” area, which includes the house, barn and garage, is only about 2 acres.
What is off limits?
The garage, the barn and the kitchen cabinet above and to the right of the sink.
Feel free to use and explore everything else. If you have any questions, just send me a text message.
