Ringing Rocks
Bring a hammer or two (look in the cabinet at the end of the kitchen peninsula) and go to Ringing Rocks on Ringing Rocks Rd off of Marienstein Rd. Though it might be a challenge for young kids, you can hike down to a waterfall through the woods beyond the boulder field. Go on a week day, as this place gets busy!
Van Sant Airport
Located in the next section of Cafferty Road, going east, “Van Sant Historic Airfield” is a popular weekend spot for bikers on tour of the area. Charter a flight or take a flight lesson in a vintage bi-plane or even a glider!
Solebury Orchards
Solebury Orchards is situated in Central Bucks County in South Eastern Pennsylvania. The farm covers about 80 acres and grows a range of orchard fruits and berries.
Shop at the Market or Pick-Your-Own when in season. There’s a play area for young kids, and free tractor-pulled wagon rides in the Autumn.
Tinicum Park
Tinicum Park is on River Road near the bridge to Frenchtown. It is frequently the site of art, music and antique shows, and has a playground, a disc golf course and camp sites.
The Towpath and Delaware Canal
The nearest access point to the towpath is in Erwinna (about 3 miles from the farm). Turn left out of the driveway onto Cafferty, turn left at the bottom of the hill on Headquarters Rd and follow the road to Erwinna (there’s a Post Office and a place to park by the towpath).
Tohickon Park and Ralph Stover State Park
Local parks in Tinicum Township offer hiking trails, public pool and campgrounds, rock climbing, and kayaking.
Lake Nockamixon
About 10 minutes from the farm, Lake Nockamixon and the surround state game lands, has boating, hunting, fishing, and hiking.
Delaware River
The Delaware River is a 10-minute drive from the farm and is a great place to go boating, tubing and simply walk or bike along on the the NJ or PA towpaths.
The Bull’s Island Recreation Area has ample parking and a boat launch.
Tubing
If you happen to have 2 cars or a willing chauffeur, I recommend buying your own tubes (and an air pump that can plug into your car) and DIY the tubing. Enter the river at Bulls Island (plenty of parking) and exit just after Bucks County River Country (or where the Tohickon Creek empties into the Delaware).
Hot Air Ballooning
Upper Bucks County is the perfect place to view from the air! There are many local ballooning companies.
The wind usually blows from the west, so if you want to view the farm from the air, best launch from the Quakertown area.
Owowcow Creamery
Ice cream at our favorite Owowcow Creamery, on Route 412 (not far from Kimberton Whole Foods).
